Abstract

The result of the thesis is a working application developed in Visual Basic programming language. The application offers the possibility of changing metadata in digital photographs, renaming image filenames in regard to the date the photo was taken and arranging the photographs in proper folders, using the capture time as basis. Storing of digital images would be very space consuming if there was no compression available. Thus enables us to use less space to store our images and to insert the metadata into them. In the thesis we introduced the EXIF format of JPEG images and analysed five most commonly used applications for editing images in reguard to the metadata. The result of the analysis has showed some limitations of these applications when handling with metadata. We developed our own application that does not have this limitations. A simple graphical interface is provided to assist us with the use of this application. To date we have not found any similar solutions to this type of problem, even if there are some products on the market that offer some of the features our application does.
