    Abstract

    With the development of smartphones, the use of mobile applications today already covers a lot of everyday life areas and also help us to solve our everyday problems. The objective of the thesis was to create a mobile application for the Android mobile platform, which would help the user in selecting the most suitable parking space. The application includes all public parking places in Ljubljana. At the beginning the Android operating system is presented and the individual component of Android SDK development environment in conjunction with tool Eclipse. Then come presentation of the existing solutions in the area of parking places applications and their comparison with the developing application. The central part is the description of the entire application development from the definition of an idea to final testing. The application list parking places based on the selected search criteria. The user can choose between distance from the parking place, the price and the number of free locations. Selection of parking places is also impacted by the weather. In case of bad weather forecast the use of parking garages is advised. Information’s on weather and parking places occupancy are obtained from internet sources. The current location is obtained by the help of GPS receiver. The application can also demonstrate the location of each parking place on the map. In the final section the options for extending application functionality are described.
