    Abstract

    The purpose of this thesis is the presentation of already established and new technologies of displaying 3D content in a web browser. The thesis begins with a short presentation of the history of 3D content available on the internet and its development together with advantages and disadvantages of individual technologies. The latter two are described in detail as well is their use and the differences among them. Special emphasis has been given to WebGL, the newest technology of 3D content presentation in browsers. The technology is presented in detail and so is its use. Like any other technology WebGL, too, has its own disadvantages which are presented in this thesis. Practical use of 3D content in a web browser is presented through an advan- ced multiplayer 3D game developed with WebGL and WebSocket technology.
