Janez Puntar (2012) The functionalities and performance comparison of SharePoint search engines. EngD thesis.
Abstract
The thesis describes the comparison, integration and use the search engine on SharePoint portal. In this thesis, we first examined why groups of people need the contact points for optimal performance in their field. In cases when we have a lot of users and data, sometimes individuals don’t know where the files are stored and they create another one. This leads to confusion with a lot of similar files. To this end, we set up a portal and search server. Using our infrastructure, we eliminated the vast majority of problems that occur in a production environment. Problems were divided into three groups. We were interested in performance, functional and security capabilities. As part of performance capabilities we visited various topologies systems and recommendations when to choose each. Since we have five options to choose from different search engines, we have to decide on one that will be sufficient for our needs but will still be financially beneficial. All this was captured as part of the functionality of search engines. On SharePoint portal we also met with security policies and development our own webparts.
