Mihael Škarabot (2012) Enterprise architecture and project portfolio management process alignment and optimization model. MSc thesis.
Abstract
Enterprises have to continuously evolve (or downsize) to maintain their presence in the market in the modern market economy. And such enterprise development requires changes. IT defines the following layers changes: - business processes and organization, - application support and data structure, - technology infrastructure. Changes need to be comprehensively planned and controlled during implementation. Overall planning and stakeholder communication is provided by enterprise architecture methodology. However controlled execution and change delivery is provided by project portfolio management, which includes program and project management. Since enterprise architecture and project portfolio management are two separate methodologies, is of key importance, that they are tightly integrated with well aligned and optimized processes. Their joint enterprise implementation must achieve higher added value as they would achieve if implemented uncorrelated or independently.
