Luka Cempre (2013) Development of a web-based dictionary of slovene sign language. EngD thesis.
Abstract
Fast development of the information technology in the past years has made it possible to improve software for educational purposes. Since there has not been in the last decade any major progress on the topic of learning slovene sign language (a language which uses manual communication and body language) with the help of computer software, we have developed a web application for learning slovene sign language based on the CD-ROM version from the year 2001. The web application is accessible on the Internet http://sszj.fri.uni-lj.si and offers the users words from slovene sign language, description of the word, illustrations of the word, video demonstration of the sign, finger alphabet and to assess their knowledge. With this application we would like to make the learning of slovene sign language easier for an individual without the help of a teacher, while making the application independent from any particular software and hardware platform.
