Abstract

The following thesis deals with panel display interface standards, which make it possible to transfer the signal from transmitter to panel display. In the first part of the thesis basic concepts, which are used for transferring picture to the display are described. Besides that, working of the most common kinds of modern displays is explained. In the end of the first part the concept of resolution is described in details, because understanding of this will be helpful for us to understand connecting standards further on. In continuation different kinds and ways of connecting standards are represented together with kinds of transfer and the differences between them. Two contemporary connecting standards for panel displays are explained in details, the electrical specifications and the purpose of their usage. The main thesis's part contains presentations of two interfaces, which are used for outer connection with panel displays. Their activity, composition and physical characteristics (which contain description of cable, connector and signals, which are being transferred) are minutely described. In the final part DVI and HDMI interfaces are compared in their possible ways of connectivity and crucial differences between them. Additionally, the predicted evolution of HDMI interface henceforth is presented.
