Nika Žagar (2013) Application for secure transfer of files and directories between client and server. EngD thesis.
Abstract
The thesis describes the development of a client-server application for simple data transfer via a secure connection using the HTTP (SSL) protocol. Server part is composed of a web service used for data transfer and a website used for administration purposes while the client is realized as a service module. Data transfer session is initiated from the client side. The transfer of files and folder structures is executed based on the predefined set of rules. Transfer is controlled and verified by hash algorithms. Optimized continuation of an aborted transfer is also supported. The thesis starts with a description of the technologies and tools that were used in the development of the solution. Following is a detailed description of the requirements. Static view of project planning and data analysis is presented. An explanation of the file transfer, some of the server administration website features and development specifics is also included. The thesis is concluded with a brief summary about testing and further development options and ideas.
