Maja Zezula (2015) Message Exchange Simulation in VANET networks. EngD thesis.
Abstract
Constant progress in development of hardware, software and communication technologies enables the design and implementation of different types of networks that can be used in various environments. One such network is Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET). The objective of the thesis was the determination of the intensity of sending the beacon messages at a certain density of vehicles that are equipped with the OBU units to achieve optimal connectivity of vehicles in the city of Celje. The thesis presents methods of communication, standards and routing protocols which are used in Vehicular Networks. Simulation environment consists of SUMO road traffic simulator and OMNeT++ network simulator. A realistic map of the city of Celje was used in the simulations. Preparation of the simulation environment and the execution of the simulation are described in Chapters 3 and 4. A model of Vehicular Network was built, which allows us the insight of Vehicular Ad-hoc Network functioning, the preparation and execution of different test scenarios and various options of the results analysis.
