Marko Cankar (2016) Integration of computer assisted cephalometric analysis into e-Health system. EngD thesis.
Abstract
There are different reasons why people decide to undergo orthodontic treatment. Some have various functionality disorders caused by irregularities of jaw and teeth while others seek treatment purely for aesthetic purposes. In order to choose the right treatment procedure he has at his disposal several tools that help him determine the severity of the issue. Cephalometric analysis is one of objective diagnostic tools in the process of an orthodontic treatment. Transfering the procedure into a software application simplifies and shortens the time needed for the analysis. Digitalization of the procedure also allows for an easy integration of analysis results into a medical information system. The goal of this thesis is to create a specification for a software application for cephalometric analysis and to provide a functional and semantic interoperability of output data of such application. In this thesis we achieve interoperability based on OpenEHR specifications, which are also used as the foundation of the medical information system in Slovenia.
