    Abstract

Robotics is becoming an increasingly important scientific and engineering discipline. With the growing robotics market, it is expected that the demand for robotically educated personnel will even increase. To widen the access to the (usually very expensive) robotics technology, we decided to develop a lowcost and lightweight but functionally sufficiently powerful robot manipulator. We based our work on existing solutions; we updated and upgraded these solutions, as well as extended their functionality. In the production of the robot manipulator, we used already existing and affordable components. The end product is a complete system that includes a robotic manipulator and a small computer with all the required software. The system is easy to use and enable the user to easily program the robot manipulator. Moreover, it is safe to operate with and sufficiently precise for use in educational and similar scenarios.
