Mitja Jenko (2018) Application for unified literature search in digital libraries. EngD thesis.
Abstract
Efficient search of the existing literature for specific research topic is crucial in scientific work. Digital libraries are important sources for this as they enable faster and more effective search than classical ones. The goal of our work is to develop a web application which uses a single search form to generate different search strings for several (different) digital libraries. Additionally, it uses several search filters and enables automatic download of found literature. First, the five studied libraries are presented: ACM Digital Library, Science Direct, IEEE Xplore, CiteSeerX and Web of Science. Then, the selection of suitable filters is presented. Those are then used to construct a search form, which is base of the developed application named Query Assistant. The important advantage of the application is also the automatic download of the found literature. Finally, a short analysis proves the usefulness of our application.
