    Abstract

In nowadays fast world time is of great importance. Since people spend large amounts of time on road, we decided to analize and visualy present influence of correct lane changing on motorway on travel time. For diploma we made simulation of carriageway of two-lane motorway, with which we gained data about travel time for units of typical daily traffic. The results show that correct lane changing is relevant, moreover it decreases travel time. Impact depends on traffic density and vechile speed. Highest decreasement is noticeable at lowest traffic density unit and at group of fastest vechiles. To reach optimal (shortest) travel time most slow vechiles must be situated on default lane and most faster vechiles on over-taking lane. Furthermore, also good sorting according to speed decreases time. To sum up, it is recomended to abide line changing rule. Beside in saftey and other advantages we benefit also in smaller time consumption.
