Abstract
This graduate thesis present the area of business intelligence and methodology for the development of business intelligence systems. The first part of the graduate thesis relates to the general description of business intelligence and is primarily focused on the area of use and economic benefits of business intelligence systems. The second part describes in detail one of the possible development methodologies and defines the basic concepts and tehnologies that are related to the development process. The development of a business intelligence system is a result of integrating different tehnologies, the necessary skills and in depth understanding of general business requirements which usually means a very complex and time-consuming endeavour. The effectivness and quality of development process therefore depend on proper approach to the design and construction of the system. Methodology described in the main part of this graduate thesis presents an agile framework that allows strategic planning, organizational business analysis, evaluation of new tehnologies, the use of prototypes and introduces the application release concept. Given development methodology consists of many phases, steps and activities that are set to provide the utmost flexibility and control over all tasks that are required during the development, irrespective of the size and complexity of the final system. Graduate thesis also briefly explains all the tehnologies, processes and components that are part of every business intelligence system.
