The author presents some historical events that led to the current situation, terminology, pros and cons of cloud computing and its alternatives. Third chapter features the overview of already available cloud computing services, divided into applications, platforms, infrastructure, data storage and other kinds of services. In the fourth chapter the author presents the use of cloud computing concept on a practical example. This practical part includes implementation of compiler from the miniPascal programming language to the MMIX assembly language and compiler's adjustment for running on the Google App Engine platform.
