Abstract
Mapping between message formats in electronic data interchange simplify electronic business between partners in the supply chain. The mappings between message formats remove the need to adapt business applications for all formats of messages used by our business partners. Mapping is performed in the background during the transmission of electronic messages over a network and is invisible to participants in electronic business. The Network provider of such network assumes responsibility for the proper mapping between different message formats. At the beginning of my diploma thesis I presented electronic business. In this chapter I talked about definitions of electronic business, its development, a legal organization in Slovenia and types of electronic business. In electronic business we must also recognize the importance of standards in this area. I presented GS1 organization which is a leading organization for global standards in this area. I specifically described the standard for identifying products - GTIN and identification of business partners - GLN. In chapter electronic data interchange - EDI I presented the basic concepts of security, standardized exchange of messages and the most common message formats such as EDIFACT, eSLOG and fixed format. For the realization of mappings I used Itemfield ContentMaster environment, which allows to program mapping using graphical environment and performed mapping in the background. In the sixth chapter I presented an environment to develop the mappings and the basic building blocks. Follows the demonstration of technologies which I have encountered solving the problem in my diploma work. In the eighth chapter I presented ZZInet network, which offers a set of services for safe, reliable exchange of documents and the implementation of mappings between the sender and the recipient's message format.
