    Abstract

This diploma thesis presents the development of the measuring device used for measuring human feet. This device will be assembled by using low-cost colour cameras. For a functional scanning, the occurring problem is systems lightning, which has to be appropriately adjusted in order to attain sufficient contrast between the human skin and the surroundings. With the use of an algorithm, the picture is then segmented based on the colour of the human skin. The picture of the foot is then measured and by making suitable conversion of the pixels into millimeters, we get the length and the width of the foot. The automatic procedure of the measurement is a welcome change and upgrade in the field of the mechanical feet measurement. We made an accurate evaluation of the systems quality. System will help skiing retailers making their measurement procedure simpler and also more accurate. The advantage of the computer measurement is also in having the possibility of automatic saving of the achieved results and having the ability of accessing them anytime later.
