Nejc Grenc (2015) Cardinal B-splines. EngD thesis.
Abstract
This thesis deals with the issue of formation and presentation of curves in computer science. Despite being one of the most fundamental elements of computer graphics, they themselves can be very difficult to create. Many different curve format types attempt to solve this problem, but none is as successful as cardinal B-splines. They have a unique set of properties that allow them to describe very complex curves in a simple way. The main topic of this thesis are cardinal B-splines, their characteristics and different ways of recording and engineering curves. The latter were as a part of this thesis also implemented in the curve generating and transformation program, which serves as a wonderful learning tool. The aim of this thesis is to present graphical curves and cardinal B-splines in a way, that will best explain this unknown world of curves to the reader.
