    Abstract

Cultural and congress activities take place in Cankarjev dom on a daily basis. Preparing and executing each one of them needs very good organization, coordination, cooperation and interaction among workers involved in the process. Every project consists of many activities starting at different times and occurring in different spaces. Staff timetables are defined within these schedules. The entire process involves a lot of people and other resources performing various functions. Such a complex system needs to be supported by an information system in order to work. That is why I developed an information system for planning and coordinating space and other resources. The degree thesis describes the methodology and life models required for the development of an information system as well as their characteristics and application. The main part of the thesis presents a detailed explanation of the development of the information system. Four main stages of development are described. Defining requirements and problem domain. The analysis covers all the requirements, together with the various model interpretations. The models were made using Power designer 12. During the planning stage, I designed a database plan as well as a program modules in Edraw Max. The implementation stage presents the complete information system, consisting of four parts (applications), showing, especially, their major functionalities. The application »Rezervacije« is used for project input and making reservations by the marketing department. The application »Projekti« is meant for the programme coordinator for managing project data. Project managers shall use the application »Dispozicije« which enables the preparationand management of dispositions. One of the most interesting applications is »Urniki«, which, among others, enables a graphical overview of schedules. Implementation was facilitated in Visual Studio 2008. The thesis concludes with a description of two additional stages, namely, testing and maintenance of the information system.
