    Abstract

The thesis Implementation of a business intelligence system in CPK d.d. contains theoretical background regarding business intelligence systems and practical presentation of business intelligence system development in CPK d.d. The introduction to the theoretical part of the thesis contains a historical review of the business intelligence systems followed by a detailed presentation of individual data warehouse elements. Common technologies, different approaches to realization and modern trends in business intelligence systems are presented. Special attention is given to the methods of presenting results to the business users, which have to be treated individually. Individual approach is possible due to variety of business intelligence tools, especially nowadays popular performance dashboards. The theoretical part of the thesis continues with a detailed presentation of the Data Warehouse Lifecycle methodology, which ensures high project success rate. Methodology consists of task sequences, required for effective data warehouse design, development and deployment. The realization of business intelligence system in CPK d.d. follows the guidelines provided by Data Warehouse Lifecycle methodology. However, due to limited project extent the applied methodology has been simplified. As a consquence of modern platform usage, which required additional system development steps, the methodology had to be extended by introduction of an aditional task. The result of the thesis is reflected by successful deployment of CPK's business intelligence system. The system is presented by description of the selected platform, ETL process and data marts. The developed data marts are covered individually, focusing on data transformation and dimensional data models specificities. Furthermore, calculated members and key performance indicators are covered in detail. In pursuit of providing better understanding of individual data marts content, examples of reports are depicted. Their final goal is delivery of quality information for effective business decision making.
