    Abstract

Electronic way of doing business is nowadays something normal. We operate much faster, more efficiently, with less costs and fewer mistakes with electronic documents. The question of the thesis is, how an average Slovenian production company, doing business home and abroad, should implement electronic invoices and in what form and standards these should be used. To answer the above question, I have researched how well used electronic invoicing is in Slovenia, our neighboring countries and around Europe, what the trends and initiatives in the European Union are, regarding the worldwide spread and most interesting standards for us. I conclude the thesis with a practical example, with an illustration of how a company can start using electronic invoice exchange.
