    Abstract

It is becoming more and more clear, that the transition to electronic commerce and use of electronic data interchange has become a necessity for all economic entities, including the smaller ones. Due to their size, it is very difficult for them to adapt to standards, dictated by larger economic entities – their strategic partners. They started using electronic data interchange first in the early 70's. The motivation for the transition to electronic commerce was mainly in lower costs, reducing the chances of errors and higher data transmission speeds. Due to increased number of documents standards it was necessary to implement the conversion between them. Conversions or transformations are computer programs without the user interface. Their task is to convert the input data, structured by standard A into output data by standard B. In the second part I will present the practical development of such programs. I will introduce all phases of development, which are analysis and planning, programming, testing, documentation and maintenance of services in a production environment.
