    Abstract

Statistical control and overview of a particular switching system's operating status play an important role in the modern development of switching systems. The Performance and Quality Monitoring System (PQMS) is one of the numerous Iskratel's products, and is used to monitor the network performance and the quality of service. This product enables the collection and mediation (transformation) of files with call detail records. By using the stored data, this product makes it possible to easily produce a report on a switching system concerned. It also supports a live presentation of the switching system status. The goal of my undergraduate thesis was to stabilize the operation of the PQMS to the largest possible extent, and to ensure its stable operation during the mediation of files with call detail records. Since errors, which are reflected as wrong values of the number of calls in user reports, are common during the mediation of binary files, a good understanding of every step in this kind of mediation is required. The quick creation of user reports is likewise important. By stabilizing the system and remedying errors, the PQMS has become a useful tool in monitoring the network performance and quality of service. It is in the interest of both the developers and Iskratel's customers to improve the use and make it faster so some new functionalities will have to be added later on.
