Gašper Karantan Vozel (2011) Parametrisation of web pages design. EngD thesis.
Abstract
In this thesis we analyzes the structure and elements of websites and, with the help of criteria for aesthetic design, evaluates them. The purpose of the thesis is to find the connection between source code and website aesthetics. In the first part of the thesis we chose and evaluate meaningful set of criteria for website aesthetics. In the second part we evaluated the set of criteria with surveying group of users. After processing survey data with Orange software, we created a model which was used in aesthetic evaluation software. The software operates by inputting URL of the website we wish to evaluate. Algorithm checks the code and evaluates it aesthetically with a grade from 1 to 10. This evaluation has limits since the notion of aesthetics is very relative; what is pretty to someone can be ugly to someone else.
