    Abstract

In this thesis, we study the feasibility of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system realisation in a web server of a programmable logic controller. With the introduction of Ethernet protocol to the area of process control, the more powerful programmable logic controllers obtained integrated web servers. The web server of a programmable logic controller, produced by Siemens, will also be described in this thesis. Firstly, the software and the hardware equipment used for realisation of the web-based SCADA system is listed and described. It is followed by a description of a web server and its functionalities. Furthermore, the creation of user defined web pages, with which a SCADA system can be created, is explained in detail. Additional explanation is provided concerning the capabilities a good SCADA system has to offer and what are the possibilities of their realisation using user defined web pages. Moreover, a realised SCADA system with WebScada library is described. The WebScada library, developed as a part of the thesis, contains graphic elements for formation of a SCADA system.
