    Abstract

    This thesis first describes the historical development of organizing gambling games and development of first bookmakers, which allowed people to bet with money. Development of new technology solutions has enabled the organizers to extend their offer to the world wide web, whereby they have acquired a wide range of users and made betting more simple and accessible. All the fastest growing gambling industry was forcing state authorities to legally restrict the opening of new bookmakers because they want to have more control over existing bookmakers. The thesis presents the law of gambling, which outlines the basic requirements and conditions for opening the online bookmaker in Slovenia. It describes the different betting systems that have been developed to date and their advantages and disadvantages. The main part of the thesis is the development and implementation of online bookmaker that is different from the usual betting systems in the way of operating. Sample implementation of online bookmaker is realized as a web application that provides betting and trading with the outcomes of events. All outcomes of events have probability of occuring, probability of outcome is presented with odds. Bookmaker is financial very safe, because it is not directly involved in accepting payments for bets and in payments of winnings. In thesis are also described various specific methods to ensure the security of financial transactions between players and bookmakers, among which the most commoc are transfer with payment card and use of online banking. The thesis studied the existence of open-source bookmakers systems, as well as describing ways of authenticate users.
