Abstract
Vehicles equipped with wireless communication devices can form a specific type of network. Not only comfortable and interactive ride is important, but also safety. The automotive industry is increasingly improving in this area. Vehicles wants to develop to such perception and communication, as people communicate with each other. There are many algorithms for routing data over a network. The suitability of these algorithms is difficult to determine in practice. Therefore, there are network simulators, which are helpful with testings. Diploma thesis includes a presentation of the RIVER network protocol, which is one of the newer from the network vehicles area. Its traffic component and implicit sending messages across the network, improves some weaknesses of the existing protocols. This diploma thesis describes the algorithms and protocols that were the basis for the development of many routing protocols. Some VANET simulation tools are described and in details is presented architecture of NS-2 network simulator. Implementation of RIVER routing algorithm is also presented for the NS-2 network simulator. NS-2 allows the tracking of sending data over the network. From the trace file, you can with help of scripting programming languages, eliminate important data that can be used for the measurement. This diploma thesis uses the AWK scripts for comparing metrics between RIVER protocol and narrow selection of routing algorithms.
