Jernej Janežič (2013) A system for evaluating the Dna damage. EngD thesis.
Abstract
The thesis describes the development and implementation of the system for the analysis of the comet assay. The first part describes the comet assay. It is a fast and simple process that enables the quantification of the damage of DNA molecules. We present the parameters needed for a precise analy¬sis of the comet assay. The system requirements are presented along with the currently available tools for comet assay analysis. Then we describe the technologies used during the development of the system. The programming language C# is used and the user interface was implemented with the WPF graphical subsystem. Chapter four presents the user interface and the main features of the developed system. The main focus of development was a sim¬ple user interface that enables a quick and precise analysis of the comet assay. The system supports the use of all major image formats. It supports simple manual marking as well as automated detection of the comets. The parame¬ters used in the analysis are chosen by the user and the produced results can be exported into an image or a spreadsheet. The possible improvements of the developed system are presented in the conclusion.
