    Abstract

In this thesis we have designed and developed an information system for finding and evaluating restaurants. There are already some existing services available in this field, however based on our investigation none of them provides all of the functionalities that are included in our solution. We have developed our own solution that allows evaluating and sorting restaurants by different criteria (food quality, staff friendliness, speed of service and price/performance ratio). Our solution also provides the option to filter restaurants based on the maximum distance from the user's location, which the user can select in the application. The filtering is achieved using the external service Google Maps, which provides the functionality of calculating distances between different locations. Using the external service Foursquare, we have obtained additional data for every restaurant, which is shown on restaurant details view. Using our application, users can login into their accounts and add new restaurants to the service. Users can also search and add other users as friends in order to sort the restaurants by friends' ratings. The system consists of a mobile application for the Android mobile operating system and a server-side application that runs on the Windows Azure platform.
