    Abstract

The goal of this thesis was the making of a basic software that monitors, advises and offers feedback, regarding the correctness of exercise execution. The key elements in achieving such a product were the building of a user interface and an unmistakable communication of the software with the user, using clear instructions and the display of the exercise state. An interactive system was developed, where we used the Kinect camera and the OpenNI framework, which allows us to track the users movement. The communication with the user is realized using a computer monitor, where instructions and menus are displayed. This serves as the basis to ensuring a pleasant user experience. The system handles the switching of different states and guides the user along the way. A state manager was build for this purpose, that handles the ongoing notifications about key events such as the initial calibration phase and hand tracking. The latter serves for software interaction and a real-time response on the exercise execution correctness. A control system was also developed, in which the criteria to evaluate a particular exercise are implemented. When the exercise is finished, the system outputs a mark in percentage and notifies the user about the success of his workout.
