Abstract
Complex computer infrastructure is not something rare today – we can find it in many environments. To assure its operational performance, specialized tools have been developed to control network and other system resources. Such tools enable us to gather data about the operation of the infrastructure under control and more, to detect problems or just indices that problems might happen. In this diploma thesis I briefly describe the main characteristics of such tools. I describe and compare eleven tools that are freely available on the Internet. One of them, Cacti, is described in more details through a concrete example.
