    Abstract

The diploma thesis deals with the problem of obsolete smartphones that are in most cases still fully functional. Developed was an application for the Andorid smartphones that turns the smartphones into video surveillance units accessible over the local network. Application was targeted for the older versions of Android operating system with the goal of covering as much of the smartphones as possible. The final version of the application enables the usage of one or more smartphones connected to the local wireless network. Smartphones can be assigned into different groups and inside the group they perform the role of a recorder or of a viewer. The viewers can access the recorders over the local wireless network or over the internet through the proxy server.
