Domen Hofman (2017) Remote call for help system in homes for the elderly. EngD thesis.
Abstract
In my thesis I outline the process of designing and building a call for help system suitable for installation in homes for the elderly. This system allows tenants to remotely call a nurse for help by pressing a button. These alarms are visually and aurally presented in a central location, which gives a nurse control over many tenants in an efficient fashion. Planning will include an analysis of the needs of end users, identifying appropriate hardware and software, and an analysis of information links between modules comprising the system. The modules are hardware and software components which enable the triggering of a call for help, receiving the signal itself, event logging, setting up a system status server and the displaying of information on devices located in the building. The purpose of the system is to enhance the well-being of tenants and to help employees be more efficient.
