    Abstract

    The aim of this thesis was to produce an interactive data visualization using open data provided by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia. The first part of the thesis presents the field of data visualization and the policy of open data. Further on it explains the benefits of open data and their role in the modern world. The thesis mentions open data visualization abroad and on Slovenian grounds. It elaborates on the aim and purpose of this work. Following chapters focus on the technologies that were used to make an application. Moreover, application demands are described and chosen solutions are explained. The chapter discusses the Elasticsearch database, Bootstrap toolkit, D3.js JavaScript library, and JSON standard. The final chapter introduces the developed application Visualization of the international trading system in Slovenia. It starts with the description of used data and continues with the analysis and description of visualization views. The end deals with problems that occurred during application development and their solutions.
