    Abstract

Automation is becoming nowadays more and more important, it increases productivity and reduces the possibility for errors. Due to the increasing demand for quality, fast and smooth work there are also, in the field of medicine to the needs of laboratories, developed a number of products that allow all the previously listed items. Some areas in health care needs for working its own computer systems. A typical example are the laboratories. In the context of the Thesis there are shown a number of software solutions in the field of laboratory information systems in Slovenia. The central laboratory IS, which we met today is the product called L@b-IS. Consequently, I devote most attention to it, and some other systems and solutions, which are associated with it. However, since the condition for the operation and management of the information systems is adequate computer infrastructure and educated staff, I work in covering the average data on IT-site of laboratories, how many computers and analyzers used in the staff of each institution, how the examination was carried out in the last three years etc.. Base on those data we will get a basis for the general state. Based on the six-month collaboration with the company Fin-Pro Ltd., I will try to give guidelines for further development, improvements and optimization of working processes, which would increase the security of the data, speed up and standardize the process of implementation process in the laboratories, which would have affected on decreasing number of people in waiting room.
