    Abstract

This thesis includes the analysis of musical effects and their realization with the Simulink program tool. Different groups of musical effects are described, along with the descriptions of effects within the group and their digital realization. Descriptions are supplemented with screenshots of models in Simulink program tool. Each model was tested with a sound file and evaluated afterwards. Graphs of signals before and after the simulation are given. Simulink program tool enables the user to simulate and design dynamic systems. It also generates programming code of those systems. This code can be transferred to embedded hardware systems and thus verified in real time. Methods of work and problems with the usage of Simulink program tool are presented. The described groups of effects are octaving, distortion, delay, modulation and filtering. The Chapter on octaving effects contains theoretical background of octave phenomenon, along with some electronic realizations which significantly influenced digital ones. Distortion effects primarily imitate the sound of overdriven audio amplifiers, so various simulations of that specific sound are emphasized. Different values of delay parameter were analyzed in the group of delay effects, with accentuation on the impact of that value on hearing the result in time and frequency domains. The group of modulation effects includes the descriptions of most commonly used effects, while the chapter on filtering contains the explanation of how some less used electronic realization of filtering is digitally simulated. At the end of this thesis a list of options for further analysis of this topic is added.
