Abstract

The thesis describes the selection and implementation of a print management system in a larger public library. The aim of the system is to reduce printing costs and ensure easy printing for library patrons. The strengths of systems that control and manage printing including prepaid print are briefly explained. The following sections present specifications required by the organization, comparison of some relevant software packages and the reasons for selection. The installation report consists of a short presentation of the existent situation, followed by a detailed description of software installation and configuration. The emphasis is on integration with user databases and multi-function device interfaces. The ending presents the system in a live enviroment and describes some conclusions and findings obtained from a practical standpoint.
