    Abstract

    In this thesis we did a research on search engine optimization. In first part the basics about how search engines work and basic principles of optimization was explained. We also described variety of methods which help to improve the ranking in search engine search results. Both on-site and off-site optimization methods are explained. On-site optimization is intended to increase the quality of content while off-site optimization is responsible for increasing the popularity of web site. Also some dirty methods was examined which can mislead search engines. We also took a look at Google's algorithms Panda and Penguin which penalize such doing. Acquired knowledge was used to optimize a real web site. At the end we made the analysis and presented the results of optimization.
